Today, Florida’s extreme 6-week ban on abortion took effect.
As a physician-legislator, I know that most women don’t know they are pregnant at six weeks. This is a blanket abortion ban.
Republicans in Harrisburg have continually attempted to pass similar extreme legislation. Our one-seat majority in the State House is the only thing standing in the way and keeping abortion legal in Pennsylvania.
As an emergency physician, I have seen the dangers of lack of access to reproductive healthcare first hand. I have delivered babies and told women they have lost their pregnancies. I have even cared for a patient who came into my emergency department and almost died after a back-alley abortion.
