As you know, Vote Mama is heavily invested in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, and Georgia this year because we know 2024 election results in these states will have a far-reaching implications across the country.
We want to maximize every dollar that you invest, and our targeted state strategy is already working! This month, our pro-choice Democratic moms celebrated two HUGE primary wins that brought us closer to securing Democratic majorities in key state legislatures.
- In Michigan, Vote Mama endorsed candidate Mai Xiong won her special election and helped Democrats reclaim House majority in Michigan.
- In Pennsylvania, Patty Kim won her primary and advanced one step closer to flipping her Pennsylvania State Senate blue and helping Democrats win control of the PA Senate for the first time in decades.
These wins have enormous policy impacts. Michigan Democrats have control of the Governor's office and both branches of the state legislature— that’s because of our moms.
There is some bad news, though, John.
- In Michigan, Mai will be impacted by redistricting and will face another competitive race in November following her special election. This time, with new maps, the race will be much harder to win since the district will be significantly more red.
- In Pennsylvania, Senate Republicans have succeeded in repeatedly blocking Dems from passing important legislation on gun reform, minimum wage, and more. And now that the GOP knows Patty Kim is their biggest threat to losing the majority, they're dumping major resources into stopping her from flipping the senate blue.
Our moms are winning, but there are still huge threats and tough fights ahead of us in November. Every moment of inaction puts the GOP in more control and gives them a better chance of winning.
That's why every single dollar and every fundraising benchmark is crucial: the money we invest NOW to elect pro-choice moms will pay off tenfold in November, John.
