Can you join us for a Digital Week of Action to highlight these disparities and fight for change?

John,

Even before COVID-19 shined a whole new light on the inhumane treatment of folks the state has incarcerated, our Young Womxn of Color for Reproductive Justice Leadership Council was organizing to stop the human rights abuses incarcerated young womxn face every day - injustices like being forced to give birth while still locked up in chains. It is long past time to provide basic menstrual products to young folks in prisons, to allow young pregnant womxn to receive care at medical facilities, and to ensure that all incarcerated people have access to the reproductive healthcare they need.

Can you join us here for #CareNotCages, a Digital Week of Action to highlight these disparities and fight for change?

Next week, we’re hoping social media feeds are flooded with content highlighting these injustices, and maybe you can even help us get #CareNotCages trending! We are proudly partnering with the badass progressive organizers behind BYP100, URGE, and Black & Pink to ensure this reaches as many people as possible. Here’s the week so far:

  1. Monday: Use a template we’ll send you to write letters to incarcerated LGBTQ youth.
  2. Tuesday: Let’s get #CarenotCages trending by sharing articles, graphics, and informational posts all day. We’ll send you what you need.
  3. Wednesday: TAKE ACTION! We’ll have an easy online form set up so you can send a letter to your local representatives demanding they pass legislation to ensure that all people in jails, prisons, and detention centers have the reproductive healthcare they need.
  4. Thursday: Help us debut a comprehensive list of resources about the intersection of abolition and reproductive justice online, bringing more people into the reproductive justice movement.

The success of #CareNotCages Week of Action will depend on you and your friends signing up to join us here.

Everyone deserves full access to reproductive health care, and everyone deserves to live in communities that are safe, healthy, and nurturing - including the incarcerated. Sign up for #CareNotCages Week of Action today.
