Friends, I will never stop fighting for my South Florida community. And thanks to the work we have been doing in Congress, we are making progress on helping millions of working families. This is just the beginning. I will continue to work with my colleagues to provide more relief that will help offset the economic impact felt by the coronavirus. And I will keep calling on Republicans to stop playing party politics and put our lives and livelihoods first. Will you join me in urging the GOP to put people over party politics and commit to meaningful relief for our workers and families? Working together, we’ve already won some big victories. I am so proud that the CARES Act: - Provides emergency funding for hospitals and health care providers
- Gives every American making under $75,000 a needed payment of $1,200
- Provides $350 billion for small business loans to stay in business and prevent layoffs
- Expands paid sick leave for many employees
- Provides accountability and oversight to the $500 billion large business fund by forbidding stock buybacks and outrageous executive bonuses
We must do even more. Our economy will feel a tremendous impact from the coronavirus crisis, but I believe there are many things Congress can do to lessen that blow. I will keep fighting for relief for those who need it most right now, including workers, families, healthcare professionals and small business owners. That’s why I’m asking you to sign your name to call on Republicans in Congress to pass more relief legislation that puts people over party politics.
