James, while the
vast majority of working people paid taxes a few weeks ago, companies like
Elon Musk’s Tesla and Jeff Bezos’ Amazon pay little or NO federal income
taxes. Despite massive profits, these big corporations are simply dodging
taxes. That’s why Bernie has introduced the Corporate Tax Dodging
Prevention Act.

Bernie said, “We have a rigged tax code that has essentially legalized tax
dodging for large corporations.” Well, it’s time to unrig the tax code so
massive corporations can’t keep getting away with enriching their CEOs
(like Musk), paying little or no taxes, and taking advantage of the
American people.

34% of big corporations paid nothing in federal income taxes in the first
year of the Trump tax cuts. $0 while working people owe. And big
corporations dodging their taxes inevitably give some of those billions
back to their ultra-rich executives. Musk and Bezos are benefitting at
every turn.

Republicans and their right-wing billionaire donors want to protect their
bounty of tax loopholes while trying to cut Medicare, Social Security, and
Medicaid — all as they complain that there’s not enough money to fund the
social safety net. It’s blatantly hypocritical.

There’s a clear solution: Bernie’s bill to tax corporations so they pay
their taxes and fund Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid.
