** There's gotta be a way to make huge semi-trucks run on a low-cost, energy-dense, and easily accessible fuel that is accessible anywhere in the country.

E&E News ([link removed]) (4/30/24) reports: "Lordsburg, New Mexico, has two truck stops, a small downtown and a population that’s been dwindling since the local smelter shut down in the 1990s. But if the Biden administration’s efforts to electrify the trucking industry come to fruition, the small town near the New Mexico-Arizona state line could be reborn as a critical way station for green transportation. A California-based startup, TeraWatt Infrastructure, recently got $63 million in federal funds to build two electric truck charging stations in New Mexico, including one in Lordsburg... But creating a corridor for green trucking is easier said than done. A single charging plaza may need as much power as the Empire State Building, according to TeraWatt. Adding to the challenge is the limited range of today’s electric trucks, which means a string of charging stations are necessary to keep them running.
Then there’s the landscape itself. Much of the southwestern United States is remote desert — making it difficult to connect power-hungry charging stations to the grid...Long-haul charging requires large amounts of power in remote areas along highways and truck routes, said Richard Fioravanti, an engineer at Quanta Technology who works with utility companies on charging issues. 'For some of these big chargers, it's like putting a Costco in a parking space. And then putting 10 parking spaces together,' he said."

** "The Biden administration is moving forward at breakneck speed to force its off-shore wind farm agenda upon the states and the American people. This is the very essence of 'Bidenomics,' using the force of the federal government to micromanage economic decisions in a one-size-fits-all approach."

Unlike the water in your dishwasher, Team Biden's war on appliances is heating up.

(4/30/24) reports: "The Department of Energy (DOE) finalized regulations Tuesday for a popular appliance that will push the market toward adopting heat pump technology. The DOE’s final energy efficiency regulations for water heaters will apply to common electrical water heaters and significantly increase the share of those models that use heat pumps, according to the agency. The DOE has spearheaded the Biden administration’s efforts to push rules and regulations targeting appliances ranging from pool pump motors and lightbulbs to furnaces and portable generators...The new standards will lead to more than 50% of all newly-manufactured electric water heaters to use heat pump technology, a massive increase from the 3% seen in the market today, according to the DOE. Compliance with the new rules will be required starting in 2029...While the DOE considers models with heat pumps to be an important part of decarbonizing America’s building stock, those particular models tend to cost about $1,000
more up front than some alternatives and do not work as well in cold climates, according to Forbes."
"Decarbonizing" air travel means eliminating air travel. It's a good thing Special K has left the administration because this wouldn't fly for someone like him.

Team Biden and Big Green, Inc. go together like...

(4/30/24) reports: "President Joe Biden has been courting the support of environmentalists throughout his time in the White House, and federal agencies have been engaged in rulemaking favorable to left-wing causes. This includes the pause on liquefied natural gas export permits, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency's EV mandates, power plant rules and methane regulations. Some Republican lawmakers are now asking how much environmental groups have been consulted when developing these rules, where these groups get their funding, and if their relationships with federal agencies breached ethical or legal lines. Republicans on a House Natural Resources subcommittee held a hearing Tuesday that examined the degree to which 'extreme environmental activist groups' are influencing policy at the Department of the Interior. The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations had invited representatives from two environmental groups who were accused of being engaged in 'improper relationships'
with the DOI — the Wilderness Society and Pueblo Action Alliance (PAA) — but both declined to testify. Subcommittee Chairman Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., explained that the issue of these groups’ influence is the 'dark money' influence they receive from unfriendly foreign sources like China."
