Enter The Pipeline For Jobs In The District's Construction Industry

Building Futures

Good afternoon,

In collaboration with the Community Services Agency of the Metropolitan Washington Council, DOB would like to make you aware of an opportunity for the next Building Futures cohort - a construction pre-apprenticeship program for low-income District residents.

Interested applicants should:

  • Want a career in construction
  • Have DC residency
  • Have a Driver’s license or Learner’s Permit
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Be healthy & drug free

To learn more, please call the Community Services Agency of the Metropolitan Washington Council at (202) 974-8222 or visit their website.

Applicants should apply no later than May 7, 2024 for priority consideration.

This program is an effort to provide a pipeline for low-income DC residents into living wage jobs and registered apprenticeship programs in the construction industry. Not only does this program help DC residents find stable employment to boost their economic independence, it also helps contractors get the workers they need to add to their capabilities to finish jobs on time and on budget. These types of training efforts are critical for economic development, job readiness, and connect closely to DOB's purview of maintaining a safe and dynamic built environment in the District.
