Florida's six-week abortion ban begins today
Florida's draconian six week ban officially went into effect today, May 1st. Now, almost every state in the Southeast has either a total ban or a six-week ban--before many women even know they are pregnant. The consequences of North Carolina's elections have never been more important to protecting abortion access for not only North Carolinians, but for the entire region.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, NC had nearly 16,000 patients from out of state seek abortion care here last year, the second highest count in the nation. This number is sure to increase this year due to Florida's new restrictions.
The best way to ensure NC continues to be an access point for us and our neighbors is by electing pro-choice, progressive women to our legislature and breaking the Republican supermajority.
