The core constitutional principle that “no one is above the law” is at the
heart of the case the U.S. Supreme Court heard last week. Former President
Trump’s lawyers argued before the nation’s highest court that certain
actions taken by Trump, in his official capacity as president, make him
immune to prosecution regardless of whether the act would otherwise be
illegal.
This of course stands in stark contrast to efforts by federal prosecutors
to hold Trump criminally liable for his extensive and unprecedented
efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. So what’s next and how

There are just six short months until the fate of our democracy will be
decided. It may seem like an eternity away or frighteningly soon, but no
matter your perspective it’s unmistakable (and no exaggeration) that a
second Trump term would be truly disastrous for our nation.
Here’s a reminder of just some of the things Trump has pledged to do if
reelected: conduct mass deportation of immigrants, purge civil servants
from the federal government unwilling to demonstrate loyalty to Trump,
pardon January 6 insurrectionists, weaponize federal agencies like the
Justice Department to investigate and prosecute political opponents, erode
the social safety net, undermine reproductive freedom, and the list goes
on.
And now that Trump has the backing of conservative institutions through
Project 2025, it’s likely he would be even more successful in carrying out
his extreme agenda than he was in his first term.
It’s essential that we defeat MAGA Republicans this November, and we must

control of the House and Senate in this year’s elections.

[ [link removed] ]Supreme Court Debates Emergency Abortion Care
Unsatisfied until abortion care is completely banned, far-right activists
are once again before the U.S. Supreme Court seeking to further restrict
the procedure in states across the country. In Moyle v. United States,
conservative activists are seeking to allow states to ban abortion despite
federal legislation providing for care in emergency situations when needed
to protect the patient’s health.
We will have to wait until the Court issues its decision, likely toward
the end of June, but there is reason to fear a Court whose far-right
majority has been willing to run roughshod over reproductive freedoms.
