Required Updates for Driver Education and Driving Safety Curriculums
Driver Education and Driving Safety curriculums must include information about the Texas Driving with Disabilities Program no later than September 1, 2024.
Driver Education and Driving Safety providers must update their curriculums and complete the Statement of Assurance Transaction (SOA) in the TDLR Online Licensing Services System [ [link removed] ] to show that their course has been updated. This transaction is found under ?Mange Your License.??
Providers are required to include the information about the Driving with Disabilities Program as part of Senate Bill 2304 [ [link removed] ] (88th Legislature, Regular Session).
*_The curriculum must include:_*
* How to sign up as a program participant.
* How to identify which diagnoses may be considered a ?Communication Impediment? that would qualify for the Texas Driving with Disabilities Program.
* Identify which form the student should have their doctor fill out and take to DPS to have ?Communication Impediment? added to the front of their Driver License or Texas State ID card.
* Explain where to find the ?Communication Impediment with a Peace Officer [ [link removed] ]? designation on a Driver License or a Texas State ID card.
* Identify which forms a student needs to file with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles to have their Communication Impediment or Deaf/Hard of Hearing status included in The Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (TLETS).

* Teen Course: Module One and Module Four
* Exclusively for Adult Course: Module Four
* Driving Safety Course: Module Four
