John,
The RCV Local Option has a huge moment TOMORROW on the House floor — when chief author Cedrick Frazier will move to put the Local Voices, Local Choices Act back in the House Elections Finance Omnibus. We will be meeting at 10:30am at the entrance to the House chambers to greet lawmakers and gather there and in the gallery to make our presence known as legislators discuss and vote on the RCV amendment.
This is our moment and we need all hands on deck to make sure our lawmakers know that RCV can’t wait.
We also need to make sure that our lawmakers know ahead of time how important this issue is to us. Please take a few moments to send them a message [[link removed]] (add your own custom flair if you are able) and make sure they know you want them to vote YES!
This is a critical vote for ranked choice voting in Minnesota. If you’ve been waiting for the best time to come show your support, that time is NOW!

What: House Floor Session on the Elections Finance Omnibus bill.
When: Thursday, May 2, 10:30am
Where: House Chambers, Minnesota State Capitol (75 Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard., St Paul, MN 55155). Note, you can park in the old Sears parking lot (425 Rice St, St Paul, MN 55103), or at paid or street parking nearby.
The Local Voices, Local Choices Act , carried by Rep. Cedrick Frazier and Sen. Kelly Morrison , ensures all Minnesota local jurisdictions (cities, counties, school districts) have the power to adopt RCV for local elections if they choose. Currently, less than 1% of local jurisdictions in Minnesota have the authority to adopt RCV. This is an essential measure to level the playing field for all local jurisdictions so they have the opportunity to experience the cost-saving, higher turnout, and more inclusive election benefits other RCV cities have.
The bill also provides essential standards for local use of RCV, making the implementation process easier, and allows state certification of RCV voting equipment and tabulation systems, allowing for faster election results.
In cities that use RCV, turnout is higher, voters like it, and find it easy to use. It’s time to give all local jurisdictions the power to decide for themselves if ranked choice voting is best for them.
Your presence is critical to support RCV and make sure the local option gets passed this year. RSVP now to join us [[link removed]] , and don’t forget to send your representative an email letting them know where you stand! [[link removed]]
Please come early to grab an orange RCV t-shirt or sticker – and a position to greet lawmakers! We’ll be there to greet you outside the House chambers.
We are grateful for your continued support as we move this legislation forward. There’s not a lot of time left in this session, and we’re still closer than ever before to getting this bill passed!
See you there!
