With the COVID-19 pandemic hitting hard all across the South, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves has decided to spend his valuable time declaring April as “Confederate Heritage Month.”
This is just absolutely ridiculous. While there is never an appropriate time to honor the racist legacy of the Confederacy, it’s especially deplorable that Gov. Reeves is spending his time doing it during a public health emergency.
John -- This is why, even in light of COVID-19, it’s more important that we restore real leadership in our country. We’ve seen Gov. Brian Kemp reopen beaches during a pandemic, we’ve seen Donald Trump blatantly lie during a crisis, and now we have Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves honoring the racist legacy of the Confederacy rather than doing his job to keep people safe.
If you’re able, will you pitch in a contribution to restore ethical, competent leadership? We need big wins in 2020 to make sure that a new wave of leadership comes to the White House, the Senate, and state governments all across the south and beyond.
Thank you,
