Friend, Indiana’s roads are seeing a lot less traffic these days – and that’s great news. It means Hoosiers are hunkering down, staying at home, and limiting the spread of COVID-19. In fact, we learned today that vehicle traffic is down 40% during the week and over 50% on the weekends! And while we’re not traveling, your Indiana Department of Transportation is out making sure our road and bridge projects continue, so that when it is time to hit the road again, it’ll be smooth sailing. Here are a few ways they’re making that happen: Community Crossings Grants 217 Community Crossing grants are being awarded in 61 counties and 156 cities and towns…for a total of $126.5 million in matching grants! Remember – for the safety of all Hoosiers, travel should only be done when essential. Enforcement of Governor Holcomb’s latest order for Hoosiers to hunker down at home goes into effect at midnight tonight. If you have questions about what this means, check out this updated list of frequently asked questions.
As Governor Holcomb has said, “Indiana has pulled together these last few weeks unlike any other time in our state’s history.” We’re in this together – and together, we’ll come out of this even stronger.
