*Early Years Entitlements Expansion and the Wraparound Childcare Programme*

Both these agendas from the government?s transformative childcare reforms are now underway and moving at pace.? *Consultation on an Experience-Based Route for Early Years Practitioners*

In May 2023, the DfE consulted on proposals to introduce a new experience-based route for early years practitioners to gain approved status to work within staff to child ratios within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).? Following these consultation responses, the DfE has noted its intention to proceed with this change in its response.

*Consultation on Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Safeguarding*

DfE are consulting on proposals to strengthen the safeguarding requirements in the EYFS to make them more comprehensive for early years providers, ensuring all children are kept as safe as possible in early years settings.

Small Steps Big Changes Child Development Resource Survey

The Child Development Resource was created to provide key child development information to support practitioners working with families with children aged 0-5 years. SSBC have developed a *short survey* to help understand if the Child Development Resource has achieved with what was set out? to support you and to measure the impact of the resource.

*The Disability Access Fund*

The Disability Access Fund is ?910 per year for eligible children.? This now includes 2 year olds and from ?1st?September 2024 will include children from?9 months of age, if they meet the following criteria:


* The child is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
* The child is accessing a place under any of the early years entitlements?
* The child is not attending a reception class in a primary or infant school/academy

PVI/ Schools are ultimately responsible for identifying eligible children and should speak to parents in order to find out if their child is claiming DLA making them eligible for the DAF.

We will be uploading new dates for our CPD programme during May and June and we are pleased to share that we will continue to bring you high quality training sessions, networks, and workshops keeping delegate fees at the current rate.
