John,
One thing is clear: our frontline medical workers need masks, ventilators, and other protective equipment and medical supplies to keep themselves and their patients safe.
The Defense Production Act gives the president the authority to mandate that companies produce the goods we need in a time of crisis. But this authority is useless if it is unused. And right now, hospitals are having to develop guidance on which patients will receive the life-saving care they need -- and which will not -- in the event of a likely shortage.
This World Health Day, add your name to demand they get the life-saving supplies they desperately need on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We already know that demand for these resources is rapidly increasing while the supply continues to diminish. This is an incredibly dangerous and completely avoidable situation to be in. Trump has already activated the Defense Production Act -- and it's past time it's carried out.
Without the proper equipment, more health care workers will get sick, and that means hospitals will have even less capacity to support what we know will be a sudden influx of patients as the infection rate reaches its peak in just a few weeks if not sooner.
That's unacceptable, and we can and must do better than this, John. Add your name next to Dwight's today >>
Thank you,
Dwight Evans
