John —

Today is International Workers' Day or May Day, a day to commemorate the historic struggles and gains made by the labor movement and to recognize how that history informs and powers our fights today.

Unions will take action across the DC region today — including a multi-union rally and march in downtown DC. Join UNITE HERE Local 25 and allied unions today at 4:30 PM at McPherson Square.

Contracts are set to expire for thousands of hotel workers in the DC region in the coming months, and today members of UNITE HERE Local 25 will rally and march for the wages, benefits and dignity they deserve. This action is one of more than a dozen actions taking place across the country today for the rights and dignity of hotel workers.

Worker justice includes #DCstatehood

In addition to May Day, today is also DC Statehood Day — held on 5/1 in order for DC to become the 51st state. The nearly 700,000 residents of Washington, DC, do not have full voting representation in Congress, and the federal government interferes in the affairs of the District without accountability to the residents whose lives are impacted. On May Day, we recognize that rights for workers in DC must include statehood for the people of the District of Columbia.
