This theme is particularly important in 2024. Last year alone, more than 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills were presented in legislatures across the nation. A new report from PEN America reveals that more than 4,000 book bans, the overwhelming majority of which target LGBTQ+ literature, were recorded in the first six months of the 2023-2024 academic year.
