John --

As you read this, thousands of Wisconsin voters are being forced to risk their lives in order to participate in today's statewide election.

Here’s the background: Wisconsin health officials and the Democratic governor tried to postpone in-person voting in today's elections and ensure that voters could cast their ballots by mail. But Republican legislators and judges in Wisconsin put politics before the people’s health and safety and blocked the move putting thousands of lives at risk.

And it gets worse: A federal judge rightly ordered an extension on the deadline to return absentee ballots so that higher risk voters could request ballots and avoid sharing the voting booth with thousands of other voters. Hours before Election Day, that order was also blocked by Wisconsin Republicans and the Supreme Court -- an eleventh hour ruling led by none other than Brett Kavanaugh.

Let me be clear, what's happening in Wisconsin today is a travesty. No American should be forced to risk their health in order to exercise their right to vote. Moving forward, protecting our democracy and fighting coronavirus means we need to move immediately to a national vote-by-mail program.

Sign the petition if you agree. We need to ensure vote-by-mail is implemented through November to protect our elections and the health of the American people. >> [link removed]
