235 years ago, on April 30, 1789, George Washington took the oath of office and became the first President of the United States.

April 30 is also the day the Louisiana Purchase was signed in 1803 for 3 cents an acre (70 cents in current dollars).

My name is Steve Chapman, Founder and Chairman of Get Out the Vote (GOTV) PAC and I know these arcane facts because April 30 is my birthday.
