Emphasizing the Importance of Strong American Energy Policies

Last week I had the opportunity to host Congresswoman Julia Letlow (R-La.), Congressman Cliff Bentz (R-Ore.), Congressman Mike Collins (R-Ga.), Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-Ill.), and Congressman Jake Ellzey (R-Texas), at Chevron Corporation's Anchor oil and gas production platform in the Gulf of Mexico. During the tour, we witnessed firsthand how American-made energy is produced more efficiently and cleanly than any other country in the world.

Now more than ever, America needs to ramp up more oil and gas exploration and production, which will bolster U.S. energy and national security and create good-paying American jobs.

My colleagues and I were reminded of the impressive capabilities resulting from the strong American energy policies we used to have before Biden launched his assault on our oil and gas industry. With the Biden Administration's failure, future investment in American energy exploration and production in the Gulf is jeopardized.

Touring Venture Global's New LNG Facility in Plaquemines Parish

I also had an opportunity to bring my colleagues to the Venture Global LNG export facility under construction in Plaquemines Parish. Once fully operational, this facility is expected to produce 20 million metric tons of LNG per year which is equivalent to 7% of the world's LNG supply.

This project has also had a very positive impact on our local economy. There are currently about 6,000 employees on site, and once completed, this facility will employ about 500 people.

President Biden's recent decision to halt approvals for new LNG export projects was an outrageous attack on American energy and just another example of the White House putting politics over common sense to appease radical extremists in their own party. This decision puts our allies' and our own energy and national security at risk.
