Drilling near Capitol Lake finishes up next week

Drilling begins November 2023
**Where: **Heritage Park.
*What's happening: *Final stage of a geotechnical survey of the land around Capitol Lake that requires drilling into the ground to collect samples.
*Impact: *Large machinery, trucks, and crews will be visible near Heritage Park, and visitors can expect loud noise from the drilling. A portion of the pedestrian walking path will be closed, and pedestrians should follow the marked detour.
*When:* 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays, beginning Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10, and finishing work on Monday May 13.
*Why: *As part of the Deschutes Estuary Restoration Project [ [link removed] ], DES is conducting fieldwork to provide information on the makeup of the ground surrounding Capitol Lake. This information will support initial phases of bridge, roadway, and boardwalk development.
