Hi John, it's Jamaal Bowman.
It’s been a minute since I reached out to y’all personally, but I wanted to share a few important things with you.
That said, this will be a fairly long email. And I know our days are often far too busy to find time to read an email for a few minutes. So if you want to save that for later and jump straight to helping out, please make a split donation to our campaign and the Working Families Party here.
When I first ran for Congress — all the way back in 2020 — my motivation was simple: too many of us were being abandoned by a broken system. Not just in the Bronx or Westchester, but all around the country.
Too many children dying from gun violence.
Too many teenagers facing a crumbling education system, while the fantasy of “paying for college” grew further and further out of reach.
Too many adults drowning under mountains of home, student, or medical debt as their wages were slashed, companies were shuttered, and vital tax dollars were spent on missiles and fighter jets instead of supporting families in need.
If you spend five minutes listening to your average American, and the struggles they’re facing, you’ll hear the same story. Again and again and again and again.
And yet, all they were met with was inaction. Indecision. A bunch of stubborn lawmakers who’d rather bury their heads in the sand than admit that maybe, the policies they’ve been pushing for the last ten, twenty, thirty years were making things worse for the people, not better.
So I decided to run for office myself. And with support from voters, volunteers, and readers like you, we overcame the odds and won.
I wasn’t the only progressive newcomer to do something like this, either.
My sisters in arms — Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley, AOC, and Ilhan Omar — were elected in 2018, paving the way.
Cori Bush won her race the same year I did. And in 2022, Summer Lee, Delia Ramirez, and Greg Casar won massive elections as well.
Together, we have built a strong and formidable group in Congress — one that fights for the many, not the few. But our success has also put a massive target on our backs.
I can’t even begin to count the number of AIPAC-funded, billionaire-funded, dark-money-funded attack ads I’ve seen this year. They are coming for all of us — and the progress we’ve made — and I need your help to fend them off before my primary election in June.
Will you help re-elect me and my fellow Squad members by splitting a donation to my campaign and the Working Families Party? We just earned a massive win in Pennsylvania by re-electing Summer Lee, but our work is far from over.

It’s been a long road so far, but I’m so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish these last four years.
We secured $1 billion in funding for affordable housing, gun violence prevention, public schools, and small businesses in our district, NY-16.
Not to mention the growing support on a national level that issues like Medicare for All and a Green New Deal have garnered.
All of that progress is at stake this year.
My opponent was recruited by AIPAC. They’ve vowed to spend $100 million to support him. And that’s on top of the super PACs that are being bankrolled by Trump megadonors.
We can’t afford to lose. Not just in NY-16, but in ANY of the districts that are being targeted by these GOP-backed “Democrats.”
Please make a donation to my campaign and the rest of the Working Families Party to not only support my campaign, but the rest of my progressive brothers and sisters in Congress.
With love and solidarity,
Jamaal Bowman
