Last week, we sent 16 folks through certified interpretive guide - a 32 hour course through the National Association for Interpretation! Two superintendents and I are trainers, so we are able to teach this communication and program development course in house. We had ten staff from four districts and OREC, five Wyoming Game and Fish education employees, and outreach from the Wyoming Geological Survey. These folks will be doing programs at parks, out in wild areas, at Whiskey Mountain Conservation Camp, in classrooms, and more.

A few days before teaching CIG, Adam McKay (Curt Gowdy superintendent) and I completed our nine month Collaboration Program in Natural Resources course through the Ruckelshaus Institute. This program covered a wide range of topics within natural resources and collaboration with 19 students from across disciplines and across the state.

With summer right around the corner, we hope that you're planning trips to our sites! I wanted to make sure you knew about our library program. In an ever growing effort to increase access to our sites, we have worked with various libraries across the state to offer a "check out Wyoming State Parks" program. This allows library patrons to check out a pass to any of our sites to cover their day use fees. They can check the pass out for two weeks to be able to visit Fort Bridger, go fishing at Boysen (buy your game and fish license!), and more. This doesn't cover overnight fees, but allows folks to visit for day use at no cost - overcoming real or perceived barriers. Libraries in my district also have backpacks to check out for kids including guides, binoculars, and magnifying glasses!
