John,

April was all about harnessing the power of the people at Color Of Change!

At the start of the month, we hosted our “Power of the Prosecutor" webinar in collaboration with the ACLU and Working Families Power. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from experts who highlighted how organizing community members through churches, schools and other civic groups is key to building power and demanding change.

And last week, we held our COC National Squad Call! Together, we discussed what COC’s organizing program has been up to this past year with our #DefendBlackHistory work in partnership with the National Education Association, training more than 1,100 community leaders across the country. Participants got to hear from COC’s very own Chief of Campaigns and Programs Kyle Bibby, and from Jamarr Brown, our Color Of Change PAC executive director, as we shared our vision for protecting Black political power in the upcoming election cycle.

From protecting Black voters, to pushing local prosecutors to enact criminal justice reform, to fighting back against book bans, we believe that big change starts with local action. That’s why we are committed to empowering everyday people to hold decision-makers accountable on systemic issues affecting our communities. Our movement is powerful, but we need your support. Help us wrap up April with an end-of-month contribution of $25 or more to fuel our grassroots organizing!
