John,
I am deeply proud to not just serve as an unapologetic Arab American Congresswoman but also to represent the largest Arab American community in our country, in Michigan’s 12th congressional district.
This month, we hosted an Arab American Heritage Month reception to recognize the incredible contributions of Arab Americans across our country and share our commitment to continuing to uplift the stories and achievements of our Arab American neighbors.
This month, I want to support Arab Women United, a group in my district that’s empowering young women and advocating for human rights. Students in the group have been targeted on campus for holding teach-ins on violence against women, and now for speaking the truth about Gaza.
Arab Women United provides free resources such as financial literacy events, domestic violence advocacy, and mental health services for people in need. Growing up as a first-generation Arab-American immigrant, the group’s founder Zahraa wanted to foster a community of support for marginalized women. Now it’s a safe haven for women to express themselves and challenge the unjust status quo.
On this last day of Arab American Heritage Month, can you chip in to help Arab Women United create a more equitable and inclusive society for all?
Thank you for supporting this grassroots group, and for honoring Arab American Heritage Month with me.
In solidarity,
Rashida
