The right-wing smear campaigns targeted at President Biden’s judicial nominees have been nothing short of ruthless.
One nominee in particular, Adeel Mangi, has been the subject of a long series of baseless and bigoted attacks by right-wing special interest groups that are rooted in Islamophobia – attempting to portray him as antisemitic by throwing completely unfounded accusations at him in order to exploit a rise in anti-Muslim hate and bias throughout the country.
In fact, the accusations are so bogus that the Anti-Defamation League released a statement condemning the attacks Mr. Mangi faced from Republican senators during his Judiciary Committee hearing:
“... berating the first American Muslim federal appellate judicial nominee with endless questions that appear to have been motivated by bias towards his religion is profoundly wrong. ... This was an attempt to create controversy where one did not exist. ADL [...] urges the Senate to offer Mr. Mangi a fair vote, based on his qualifications and fitness for the job.” [1]
It’s why People For is proud to join dozens of our progressive allies for a national day of action urging the Senate to ignore the lies and smears targeting Mr. Mangi and confirm him alongside all of President Biden’s judicial nominees!
