On April 24, CLC filed a complaint with the FEC regarding an arrangement that seems designed to obscure the true recipients of a large portion of Donald Trump’s legal payments and, in doing so, seems to violate federal law.
Voters have a right to know how presidential candidates and committees supporting their campaigns are spending their money. In this case, the Trump campaign and four other Trump-affiliated political committees (including his leadership PAC) have been paying an accounting and compliance firm, Red Curve Solutions, millions of dollars, nearly all described as “Reimbursement for Legal Expenses.”
Red Curve, which is run by the same man who serves as treasurer to all 5 Trump-affiliated committees, appears to have been fronting legal costs for Trump since at least December 2022, without disclosing who’s being paid. This means that for over 16 months and counting, Trump’s committees have effectively concealed from the public how they’re spending millions of dollars on legal services.

CLC hosted a discussion with experts and former candidates about innovations that make it financially easier for Americans to run for office and hold office — those that have already been implemented and others that have been proposed.
