This May, for Mental Health Awareness Month, we're expanding our #TalkAwayTheDark campaign with advanced guidance, encouraging more and more people across the country to recognize the warning signs for suicide, and start conversations that can help save lives.
Alongside our national PSA short film, our existing library of #RealConvo Guides, and all the #TalkAwayTheDark components that have helped raise awareness and expand people’s understanding, we've updated our #TalkAwayTheDark resources to include these exciting new tools and events:
An all-new #RealConvo Guide available in English and Spanish, “Connecting Someone to Help (When They’re Hesitant),” which features advanced strategies and dialogue tactics you can use to validate the fears and feelings of a person in crisis
#TalkAwayTheDark merch to help raise awareness about how we can all play a role in preventing suicide. Available merch options include a t-shirt, hat, water bottle, stress ball, and sweatshirts in two colorways
Brand-new social media graphics you can use to spread the word about Mental Health Awareness Month, with messages reminding others they are not alone and letting people know that anyone can help save a life
New articles for our Real Stories blog, including thought-provoking reader responses to recent #TalkAwayTheDark prompts such as, “What did you say to someone in distress that encouraged them to get help?” and, “What would you want someone to say to you if you were struggling with your mental health?”
An updated Events Calendar where you can stay tuned for more information about our upcoming virtual events, including a new Facebook Live episode of Ask Dr. Jill at 1pm ET on Thursday, May 16, which will take questions from the audience on how to validate the fears and feelings of a person in crisis, and connect them to support
By educating yourself and your community about the wealth of resources in our #TalkAwayTheDark campaign, you can help save lives. Join us this May, and all year round, in our fight to stop suicide. Together, we can make a huge impact.
