Janie shares her inspiring journey of dedication, adventure, and commitment throughout her career, from witnessing groundbreaking medical advancements to advocating for worldwide cervical cancer screening.
Alan Mayes, RN, a post-kidney transplant coordinator with the UAB Comprehensive Transplant Institute, retired in January 2024. During his long career, Mayes played a role in advances at UAB Medicine generally and in transplant medicine specifically.
Just after arriving at work in November 2023, UAB Medicine employee Joy Marsh suffered a heart attack. Her coworkers helped transport her to the UAB Emergency Department and comforted her until a surgery and cardiology team could reopen a section of artery that was 100% blocked.
Several of our recruiters and hiring managers from across the organization recently visited McAdory Middle School to showcase various aspects of working in health care. It was a fun experience engaging with these students and potential future health care ambassadors.
