Friend,
This week is National Public Health Week -- a time for us to bring attention to the critical public health issues facing our country and, in this time especially, to celebrate the extraordinary work done by those serving on the front lines of the medical community, including doctors, nurses, allied health care workers, food service workers, and hospital custodial staff. All of them are vital right now, and Susan is working around the clock to protect those individuals, emergency responders, and other people working on the front lines to address this crisis. Among other things, she has led on initiatives that would expand paid sick leave for these workers.
This unprecedented health crisis is also highlighting just how important it is for every American, regardless of income, ethnicity, gender identity, or age to have access to high-quality, affordable health care. When one person is afraid to go to the doctor because they can’t afford it, it puts an entire community at risk.
Susan has made expanding access to health care a priority from day one. She has led on key legislation that would lower the cost of prescription drugs and make it easier for hardworking families to get the care they need, and particularly those drugs that are life-saving, such as insulin, inhalers, and chemotherapies.
Just last week, she introduced two key bills that the President signed into law: the first, to expand access to delivered meals for seniors and the disabled, and the second to allow easier access to home health care for Medicare beneficiaries. Susan is exactly the kind of Representative that this country needs, right now, at this critical time and into the uncertain future.
As we observe National Public Health Week, it’s important that we continue to do our part to stay at home, be physically distant from others, and prevent the spread of disease. And let us continue to recognize the heroic efforts of the health care workers across the country, working to keep us safe.
Stay safe and healthy,
Team Wild
