John, I’m Tekesha Martinez. As a teen mother who grew up in foster care, I have defied the odds to become a community mediator and the first Black Mayor of Hagerstown. Now, I’m running for Congress in MD-06, one of the most competitive seats in Maryland.

Through this campaign, I have gotten to know another public servant running for the open seat in neighboring district MD-03: Harry Dunn, the officer who defended the U.S. Capitol against insurrectionists on January 6.


Harry and I have bonded over our shared values. Above all else, we are committed to serving our communities and changing the face of representation in Maryland.

Just like Harry, I’m not your typical political candidate, John. I can’t self-fund my race or rely on my wealthy network, unlike some of my opponents. I know I can win this race – but NOT without true grassroots support, which is why I’m reaching out to you today, John.
