One of my proudest accomplishments as an IL State Senator was when I sponsored the end of cash bail through the Pretrial Fairness portion of the SAFE-T act:

First passed in 2021, it was challenged by opponents in 2022 thinking crime was going to soar

Then in the late summer of 2023, it was upheld by the IL Supreme Court and implemented statewide to reform our ineffective criminal justice system

Now jail populations are down, court appearances are up 10%, and reoffense rates are down 7% compared to previous years!

Progressive public-safety measures WORK, Friend, and I can't wait to sponsor more next session.
