It’s Honesty Day, an important moment at WisDems.

And before I ask you to chip in $24 to call out lies and uphold the truth, I’m going to explain why a day like this is so key to our work at WisDems.

For over a decade, Republicans have lied to Wisconsinites about abortion, voting rights, and fair maps. They lied for years because they wanted to hold onto power and enforce an extremist agenda on Wisconsin.

The GOP even claimed the 2020 election was a fraud, propping up conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory.

But not anymore.

In 2023, Wisconsinites roared up like never before and organized in every community across the state. As a result, a majority of Wisconsinites made it clear they wanted change when they elected Justice Janet Protasiewicz and ended an extreme, far-right majority that had for years catered to wealthy special interests.

Since then, we’ve seen new fair maps and an opportunity to protect our right to vote.

But the fight is far from over.

Right now, Republicans are devising their next plan of attack to thwart our democracy and claw back power. And we know they’ll do it with lies and dishonest campaigning.

So there’s no better day to get into this fight than Honesty Day. Not in October, not the day before the election, not even the summer — TODAY!

If we’re going to fight back against extremism, mobilize Wisconsinites in this important election, and call out Republicans for their lies, we need to start the work now.
