Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I’m pleased to update you on my work in Washington, D.C. and the First District of Kansas. It is an honor to represent Kansans in the Big First District in the 118th Congress. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger, and I believe our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service,   Mann.House.Gov   The Week Ahead Over the past several weeks, America has witnessed a surge in antisemitic protests on college campuses. At a time when our ally Israel is under constant attack and Jewish students in the United States don't feel safe to pursue their education, we must stand with our Jewish neighbors and eradicate the spread of antisemitism. The Antisemitism Awareness Act of 2023 will stop the antisemitic intimidation of Jewish students on American college campuses and ensure that campuses remain safe. Antisemitism has no place in America, and I will always stand against it. I look forward to supporting this legislation when it is brought to a vote on the House Floor. This week, House Republicans will also consider a resolution denouncing President Biden's failed open border policies. President Biden could secure the southern border and solve the border crisis today the same way that he created it. With a pen stroke, he could reinstate the Trump-era border security policies – which actually worked - that he removed on his first day in office. The Biden Administration must be held accountable for its egregious disregard of our nation's border laws, and I remain committed to holding President Biden accountable. We also discussed the need to reauthorize a strong, five-year farm bill, and my work on the House Agriculture Committee to ensure that the next farm bill supports our hardworking agricultural producers and strengthens our nation's food security. Thank you, again, to everyone who attended the town halls. I'm looking forward to visiting all 60 counties again this year during my annual Mann Listening Tour. Be on the lookout for future town hall dates right here in my E-Newsletter and on my social media. Commercial, industrial, and civic leaders in western Kansas communities attended the event to share experiences, learn more about issues that affect the area, and gain resources to help drive their local economies. Small businesses like the ones in our Kansas communities drive the U.S. economy and define the American dream. With more than 200,000 small businesses across the Big First, these local leaders are in the business of changing lives and bettering our communities. Thank you, Western Kansas Chambers of Commerce for allowing me to spend time with you. Recognizing 2023 Congressional Art Competition Winners Left side of Rep. Mann: 3rd place winner Damaris Ramos and art teacher Denise Salem. Right side of Rep. Mann: 2nd place winner Drew Williams and art teacher Claudia Enciso. One of my favorite parts of being the representative for the Big First is recognizing the talented students in our district. During my Ford County town hall, I had the pleasure of presenting two of the 2023 Congressional Art Competition winners with their awards. 'Ad Astra Per Aspera', by Drew Williams was selected as the 2nd place winner. 'Her Daughter', by Damaris Ramos was selected as the 3rd place winner. Congratulations, Drew and Damaris! The first-place winning art piece, 'Home' by Katherine Price was on display this year in the U.S. Capitol. In the News KWBW Radio, Hutchinson Last Wednesday, I caught up with Nick Gosnell between town halls to discuss the crisis at our southern border, skyrocketing inflation, and other things I heard from Kansans during the week. We also discussed my recent vote to support America's ally, Israel, my work to reauthorize a five-year farm bill and my recent legislation that would protect American energy producers from a burdensome emissions rule by the Biden Administration's U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which will crush energy producers and consumers alike. Our district is home to more than 200,000 small businesses, and more than 80% of employees in the district are employed by small businesses.
