March 2020
Update from Chairman Dickey, March 2020
Dear Fellow Texas Republicans,
What a month March has been! Our communities, state, and nation are facing
unprecedented challenges as we respond to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Fortunately, the work we had put in every day since the 2018 Election to
prepare for Victory in November 2020 prepared us to overcome the challenges of
the current pandemic and still deliver the victories we must - from the White
House to court houses all over Texas.
Convention Updates
One of the biggest challenges the Republican Party of Texas (RPT) has faced is
the postponement of our biennial state convention which was originally
scheduled for May 14th-16th in Houston, TX. We needed to simultaneously
accomplish two conflicting missions: protect the health and safety of our
people, their families and friends, and our communities; and comply with Texas
Election Code, RPT Rules, and the Rules of the Republican National Committee
while also safeguarding our delegates’ rights to be fully represented within
our Party and at the Republican National Convention.
This past Saturday the State Republican Executive Committee voted to move the
RPT biennial state convention to July 14th-16th. RPT Executive Director Kyle
Whatley has negotiated contract revisions with the George R. Brown Convention
Center, the Marriott Marquis (our convention hotel), and with other Convention
vendors in preparation for our April 4th SREC Meeting.
There are three immediate ways you can receive critical updates going forward

Reigniting #RPTServes
Texas and our nation find ourselves in an unprecedented situation as we fight
the Coronavirus pandemic. Once again, the Republican Party of Texas is
answering the call, this time reigniting #RPTServes to come to the assistance
of Texans in need and those who are most at risk from the COVID-19 virus.
To accomplish this goal, the Republican Party of Texas is announcing four
#RPTServes key strategic initiatives:
1. Bridge the gap between the needs of our most vulnerable Texans and the
resources they need by utilizing our RPT grassroots network to garner and
deliver aid where it is needed most.
2. Support our community medical professionals and first responders by working
with local groups and organizations to offer both tangible and moral support to
those on the front lines of this battle.
3. Foster the support of local small businesses who are struggling during this
unprecedented time.
4. Improve life for Texas seniors during this difficult time by inspiring a
movement of people of all ages to communicate and connect with those who are
isolated and alone.

I want to thank our Republican leaders across the state for the steadfast
leadership and commitment to our Party during this trying time. Our leaders are
working tirelessly to see your rights as delegates come to full fruition at the
state and national level with transparency, with adherence to our RPT and RNC
rules and, most importantly, in the safest manner possible. My thoughts and
prayers are with each of you during this historic time. May God bless you and
our great state of Texas.
On March 3rd the Republican Primary Election was held across the state.
Congratulations to all of our Republican nominees! We are excited to work with
all of our candidates for victory in November 2020. The RPT has been working
the past 16 months to prepare for the battle ahead. We will re-elect President
Donald Trump and Senator John Cornyn and maintain and gain seats in the U.S.
House and the Texas House. We now begin to execute our plans to defend Texas.
Texas Republicans are ready to defend Texas and win in November!
The Jefferson County Republican Party hosted multiple candidates as they
prepared for the Primary.
I joined Fox News’ national coverage to recap the great Texas primary election
results.
Other pictures from some of the many events and activities in March:
In March, the RPT held a Grassroots Workshop to share how we will keep Texas
red! Attendees heard from Karl Rove and Dave Carney and also saw presentations
from RPT’s Data Team, RPT’s Volunteer Engagement Project, and Trump Victory.
Had a great visit with the Bexar County Republican Women and my friend Karen
Newton.
RPT Organizational Director Brandon Moore took this photo after SREC Member
Marian Stanko joined us to canvass our statewide primary vote. The canvass is
required before we can hold the primary runoff election and send our nominees
on to the November General Election!
The RPT held our annual Spring Legislative Dinner. This year’s Steve Munisteri
Award Recipient was RPT’s Candidate Recruiting Task Force Chair, Cat Parks.
Thank you to all who attended.
