I want to take a moment and check in with you, John.

Many of us know people -- family, friends, and neighbors -- who are struggling right now. Some are struggling with COVID-19. Others are struggling with the isolation of quarantine. Many are struggling through the financial impact of furloughs, layoffs, and lost wages.

If you or someone you know is struggling with health or social services needs, Delaware's 211 can connect you with resources as well. You can reach them by dialing 2-1-1 on your phone or visiting delaware211.org. For up-to-date information on the coronavirus in Delaware, please visit the state's website at [link removed].

I'm also getting calls from folks who want to help, but aren't sure how, or if, they can do anything from home. The good news is you absolutely can make a difference. In fact, you probably already are. No matter where you live, you are actively helping others by simply staying home as much as you can.

I hope you take some comfort in knowing that your commitment to social distancing is saving lives. But our efforts don't just end with staying at home or washing our hands, we must also support our neighbors in need.

These are trying times. Not only is the virus posing an immediate and serious threat to our health, but it's also causing economic strain for everyday Americans. Businesses are closing and workers are being sent home without pay. Families lack access to basic necessities like food and toilet paper. Some students have even lost their free school lunches.

Our neighbors are going to need our help to weather the storm. So if you are financially able, will you pitch in whatever you can spare to the Delaware Does More COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund? Any amount you give today will make a meaningful difference during this crisis.

Thank you for stepping up at this critical time. Remember, we will get through this together.
