Police Officers should not be selected on the basis of their ethnicity, religion, gender or sexuality - such “Diversity” targets reduce the ability of the force to carry out proper policing and are turning the force into a ‘political project’.
White, English, male or Christian applicants should not face discrimination. Diversity targets are inherently discriminatory and the result of these targets often involves turning down the best candidate for the job so that a 'diversity box' is ticked.
