To our extended CZI family:
In light of these challenging times, we want to share with you some of the encouraging work of our partners and grantees. Across the globe, we’re seeing them step up in countless ways — from scientists and researchers who are fighting the spread of the virus, to frontline community health providers, to organizations who are working with vulnerable populations, to education leaders helping families and students navigate remote learning. The path forward will be difficult but collectively we can do our part to not only stem the spread of COVID-19, but ensure there’s a better future for everyone on the other side.
From everyone at CZI, we are sending best wishes for the health of your family, colleagues and community.

JUSTICE & OPPORTUNITY
- COVID-19 threatens the health and safety of people incarcerated in jails and prison, as well as correctional staff. That’s why many CZI grantees, including The Justice Collaborative and FWD.us, are mobilizing to reduce prison and jail populations amid the pandemic.
COMMUNITY
- CZI is committing an initial $5 million to support Bay Area COVID-19 emergency relief efforts, funding local organizations and agencies responding to the pandemic. From expanding COVID-19 testing, to enabling at-home learning, and investing in programs that assist individuals and families who are financially impacted, CZI’s regional response focuses on supporting communities most affected by the pandemic. We’ve also compiled education resources for remote learning and tech resources to help your organization support a remote workforce.
