Indivisibles,

Trump’s Supreme Court is out of control.

Since Trump rigged the Court with a conservative supermajority, SCOTUS has
delivered him MAGA-inspired rulings on Roe, affirmative action, gun
regulations, and the EPA on a silver platter, and it is currently on the
path to delivering him his second term as president.

SCOTUS has actively worked to slow down Trump’s immunity case and looks to
be leaning toward slowing it down even more by [ [link removed] ]sending it back to lower
courts. Any delay in a ruling would imperil the ability for the trial to
conclude before the election, setting into motion the potential for Trump
to dismiss the case and bury the evidence against himself if re-elected.

All of this has become the backdrop of a case with horrifying implications
all on its own. At one point, Trump’s lawyers contended that the
[ [link removed] ]potential assassination of a political rival could indeed be an
official act and therefore be immune from prosecution -- and expressed the
same thoughts about a potential coup.

These are not ideas that would uphold a free and fair democracy.

In January of 2025, the winner of this election will be sworn in. That
same month, FOUR of the nine Justices on the Supreme Court will be over
the age of 70. This election could very well enshrine SCOTUS as an arm of
the extremist MAGA movement for generations to come -- or, it could give
us the opportunity to finally undo some of the damage and end the MAGA
court’s reign over our politics. We have to do everything in our power to
ensure we have that chance.

We aren’t just fighting to stop Trump. We are fighting to stop the
anti-democratic movement he would embolden and empower for decades to
come. Now is the time to get to work.

With that, here are your weekly to-dos:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Your 5 weekly to-dos

 1. [ [link removed] ]Register for our National Phonebank: Abortion is on the Ballot this
Thursday, May 2 at 7pm ET/4pm PT. This Thursday is the anniversary of
the Supreme Court leak of the Dobbs decision that would reverse 50
years of precedent and overturn Roe. Join us alongside activists
across the country in calling into Arizona to remind them that
abortion access is on the ballot this November, and electing Ruben
Gallego is crucial to our ability to enshrine reproductive freedoms
for all.
 2. [ [link removed] ]Check and see if Neighbor2Neighbor is available in your area. We
have opened pre-registration for Indivisible Action’s version of our
highly effective, community conversation program -- Neighbor2Neighbor.
If you want to have the biggest impact on voter turnout, this is the
most effective way we’ve found to mobilize community members (our
numbers prove it). Check and see if Neighbor2Neighbor is available in
your area and, if it is, sign up today.
 3. [ [link removed] ]Sign up to defend democracy from Trump with Project 2024: Majority
Over MAGA. Our Project 2024 was made in direct opposition to Trump’s
dangerous MAGA objectives. This new electoral program will ensure
Indivisibles all across the country have the opportunity to make a
difference in the highest-priority races this cycle and prevent a MAGA
catastrophe from taking place. This will include tactics like
phonebanking, postcarding, and direct-to-voter texting along with our
groundbreaking community conversation strategy: Neighbor2Neighbor.
Sign up to be the first to know when we launch our tools in your area.
 4. [ [link removed] ]Call your senator and demand they protect in vitro fertilization
(IVF) access nationwide. The MAGA agenda did not just stop at
repealing Roe. They intend to ban contraception, IVF, gender-affirming
care, marriage equality, and more. Sen. Tammy Duckworth has introduced
the Access to Family Building Act, a bill that would enshrine access
to IVF and related services as a federal right, protecting both
would-be families and their medical providers. If your senator is a
Democrat, call and make sure they are a cosponsor. If your senator is
a Republican, tell them to put their money where their mouth is, pass
this bill, and actually support families. [ [link removed] ]When you’re finished
calling, send your senators an email urging them to protect IVF
access.
 5. [ [link removed] ]Email your MoC about cosponsoring H.R. 732 -- the Save Medicare
Act. We know the MAGA agenda includes [ [link removed] ]ending Medicare as we know it
-- and a big part of their scheme includes handing the reins to
private insurers. But we’ve seen what happens when greedy insurance
companies are put in charge: Medicare Advantage, the privatized option
for Medicare, is rampant with fraud and overspending. If we allow
insurance companies unchecked power to run the program, we risk
sticking millions of Americans with coverage that promises quality
healthcare only to deny coverage for essential care and services.
Congress must hold these predatory Medicare Advantage plans
accountable, and that starts with blocking the deceptive naming of
these private plans.

P.S. This has been a tough month for fundraising, but we can meet our
movement budget if grassroots donors are able to come through with just
$1,336 before the end of the month. [ [link removed] ]Now’s the time when we need to
make big investments in battleground states and target districts, so every
dollar matters. Please chip in if you can.

Call for a Humanitarian Ceasefire

**Content Warning: Talk about the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Jump to the line break if you need to avoid this topic.**

Over the past week, [ [link removed] ]dozens of pro-Palestinian protest encampments have
popped up on college campuses across the US. These protests -- in addition
to the [ [link removed] ]vote uncommitted movement -- have shown that a younger
generation of Americans is committed to peace and making their voices
heard.

When we ask for younger generations of Americans to engage in politics, we
have to be ready to listen to what they have to say.

It is important to remember, the right to protest is as foundational an
American concept as exists. When we infringe on those rights -- as in the
case of [ [link removed] ]Speaker Mike Johnson stating we should send in the National
Guard to end them -- we trample on the rights of all Americans to express
their approval or disapproval with their elected officials.

To level with you: No protest is perfect. There will always be people who
use protest as an opportunity to spread their vile rhetoric. There will
always be people who use it as an excuse for violence, or bigotry, or
further division. But we cannot allow Republicans to define these protests
by their worst actors while the vast majority of the crowds are both
peaceful and yearning for an end to the suffering of Palestinian
civilians.

While Republicans applaud college administrations for [ [link removed] ]sending armed
riot police to tear down encampments while arresting students and
professors, they revel in the hypocrisy of refusing to create
accountability for the actual violent coup they supported in 2020. There
is no desire for public safety in the Republican calls for order, only a
desire to quell any semblance of youth progressive organizing and
momentum.

As our own Leah Greenberg said:

Anyone who’s responding to college kids peacefully protesting by deploying
hundreds of militarized cops or threatening to send in the National Guard
is escalating the situation and making EVERYONE, Jewish kids included,
less safe.

The intent of the protests is clear: an end to the war. Republican
attempts to confuse that narrative are meant to pit us against one another
instead of addressing the brutal military campaign in Gaza.

The path toward that peace and safety (including that of the Israeli
people and the hostages still in Hamas’ custody) is through a ceasefire.
While Republicans try to make it seem otherwise, remember that the
[ [link removed] ]majority of voters support a ceasefire (including a plurality of
Republicans).

Now is the time to keep the pressure on our representatives. Call now for
a humanitarian ceasefire, the return of all hostages, and uninhibited
access to humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza.

Disinformation and Children -- Prepare for a Summer of Screens call

education. Learn how we fight back with special guest Dalia Hashad, the
