John,
I wrote a column in Idaho’s Post Register for Earth Day this month, and I jokingly compared protecting our planet to something my dentist always says: “You don’t have to floss all of your teeth, just the ones you want to keep.”
It was cute, at first. But then I realized that this applies to more than just climate action.
Of course I want to “keep” our planet, but what about our democracy, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights… John, the list of what’s at stake this election seems to grow longer every week.
I’m running for Congress because Americans deserve better. That was true before MAGA’s ideology infected our government, and things have only gotten worse. But we CAN turn this around if we flip the House this year.

We’ve known for decades that we need protections for our environment. We only realized recently that our institutions, our democracy, and our fundamental freedoms were just as fragile.
I have two children. I would really like to see a world where they can grow up and start their own families. That future will never materialize if we refuse to look to the future and protect our planet and our country.
Congress is our last defense against the extremism that is running rampant in our courts and state governments, threatening the safety and security of my family and yours.
Since MAGA Republicans have hijacked it, we’re left defenseless to the GOP’s greed, legislative attacks, and ideology. That‘s why flipping the House for Democrats is more important this year than ever.
I am doing all I can to kick MAGA Rep. Mike Simpson out of Congress and give Democrats the House majority, and I won’t stop fighting for the future we deserve until it’s here.
