My career is rooted right here in Denver, Colorado; I moved to the Denver Metro area when I was 12, and I’ve lived in Denver’s Park Hill Neighborhood for nearly thirty years. In 2010, President Barack Obama nominated me to serve as the U.S. Attorney for Colorado, a job I held for six years.
During my time as U.S. Attorney, I partnered with Denver to address gun violence, and held corporate banks accountable for their roles in the 2008 financial crash and pharmaceutical giants accountable for the opioid painkiller epidemic, returning billions of dollars to the pockets of the American people.
From confronting powerful drug cartels and billion-dollar companies to tirelessly advocating for robust laws against gun crime, my journey has always been motivated by a desire for a smarter, more effective, and more equitable justice system.
