There’s a big update in the fight to regulate dangerous PFAS “forever” chemicals.

Earlier this month, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the final regulations that set enforceable limits on six PFAS in drinking water. These regulations come after decades of community organizing and are a significant victory in the fight to ensure clean water for all.

Water systems serving at least 100 million people are expected to be contaminated with PFAS, and the new rule requires water systems to complete testing within three years. While utilities will have five years to comply with the new limits.

Corporate polluters have known for decades that PFAS chemicals are toxic, and research has made it clear that no amount of PFAS in water is safe.

While the EPA's regulations are a step in the right direction, they address just six of thousands of these toxic chemicals. That’s why the work is not over. We'll keep up the pressure until the EPA issues regulations on all PFAS chemicals found in our drinking water, and the corporations who created these chemicals are  are held to account for the damage!

Communities need more federal support to comply with these necessary new standards. The WATER Act is legislation that would fully fund our public water infrastructure to ensure safe and clean water for all.

Urge your members of Congress to support the WATER Act and the PFAS Action Act – two critical bills that will work to address toxic PFAS and protect clean water.
