Rise Against Hunger
meet the need

Dear john,

As many of us are confined to our homes or the small radius of our local communities, it may be hard to imagine how we can reach vulnerable communities across the globe at this difficult time.

Here’s where you come in: Rise Against Hunger, in partnership with MAP International, is prepared to ship nearly $20 million in nutritious meals and medical aid to in-country partners in Liberia and Sierra Leone to combat the COVID-19 crisis, and we need your help to ensure our ability to respond to those in need. Will you help us meet our $20,000 goal this week to continue our outreach efforts worldwide?

At the Ganta United Methodist Hospital in Ganta, Liberia, pregnant and nursing mothers and those suffering from malaria come to seek treatment. Many of these patients have compromised immune systems, compounding the risk of contracting COVID-19.

Our partner Caritas Health Services supports patients suffering from malaria, typhoid fever and respiratory infections — those whose immune systems are often too weak to recover from their conditions. While COVID-19 spreads, it poses a threat to these patients as those with pre-existing health conditions are more susceptible.

In heavily populated communities in countries we serve, the inability to practice social distancing, along with poor nutrition and hygiene, can cause an even more rapid spread of disease. Our pending shipments of nutritious meals and both life-saving and primary care medicines will provide critical assistance for Liberia and Sierra Leone's most vulnerablePlease join us in supporting at-risk communities during times of crisis like this one.
