John, 1970 was a defining year for me.

It was the first time I was arrested while traveling the country encouraging soldiers returning from war to speak about the injustices happening overseas. Coincidentally, another movement was afoot that year: 20 million people gathered for the very first Earth Day demonstration in the United States.

Since then, activists and scientists have been sounding the alarm on the irreparable damage the fossil fuel industry and other corporate polluters inflict on the air we breathe, our wildlife and fragile ecosystems, and the water we depend on. Yet, despite these clear warnings, the fossil fuel industry deftly escapes accountability at nearly every turn. They continually wield their financial power — buying elections and spreading misinformation — to safeguard their profits at any cost.

In the face of such overwhelming odds, every contribution to our cause is a step towards dismantling this destructive power. Can I count on you to donate to the Jane Fonda Climate PAC today this Earth Month? [[link removed]]

Those early days in the 70s solidified my lifelong commitment to activism. While we still have so much work to do, it’s important to remember that by the end of the year, the Nixon Administration established the Environmental Protection Agency to address many of the concerns about pollution at the heart of the first Earth Day movement.

I’m still as committed as ever to protesting, marching, and demanding more from our elected officials, but it has become clear to me that too many of them aren’t getting the message. The science is clear on what we need to do to avoid climate catastrophe. But if we can’t change the minds of the people in power, we need to change the people in power.

That is why I'm channeling all my energy (and don’t let 86 years young fool ya, I’ve got a LOT of it) into electing bold climate champions through the Jane Fonda Climate PAC and joining the chorus of voices demanding more for the communities being hit hardest by the climate crisis.

We've come so far, but there's still so much to do. Your donation to the Jane Fonda Climate PAC can help us keep up the pressure, elect climate champions, and take our fight against Big Oil to the next level.

If you can, would you consider contributing $5 before Earth Month ends tomorrow night? [[link removed]]
