The climate
crisis is already displacing people from their homes.

People are already feeling the consequences of the climate crisis, whether
it be experiencing extreme temperatures in the day-to-day, or total
displacement from their hometown due to weather-related damage and
destruction.^1

These kinds of stories and experiences will become far too normalized if
elected officials do not take serious action now.

It's time for Congress and President Biden to fully back up their
commitments to combat the climate crisis. Every day that passes without
calling for a climate emergency means another day we cannot deploy the
much-needed federal resources to communities on the frontlines of climate
destruction, nor are we able to adequately prepare any communities to
withstand future extreme weather events.

We cannot allow these stories to become the new normal. All of us are feeling
just how much the climate crisis affects our everyday lives — from
dwindling selections of produce at the grocery stores, to abnormal and
out-of-season extreme floods and natural disasters, to longer and hotter
summer months.
