LULAC Unveils Agenda for 2024 National Convention & Exposition

“Empowering the Next Generation” theme will be highlighted through the LULAC
Academy and thought-provoking speaker sessions

Las Vegas, Nevada – The League of United Latin America Citizens (LULAC), the
largest and oldest Latino civil rights organization in the U.S., announced the
agenda for its 95th Annual National Convention and Exposition [ [link removed] ]
set to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada from June 26 – June 29, 2024 at the
Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. This year’s theme, “Empowering the Next
Generation,” will focus on positioning the next generation of Latinos for success
through education opportunities such as the LULAC Academy and in-depth
conversations on topics that impact Latinos, including economic empowerment,
health and wellness, technology/AI, and immigration.

“At LULAC, we want to ensure that the next generation of Latino leaders are
prepared with the resources necessary to succeed. Between the LULAC Academy,
esteemed speakers and panelists, and the grand exposition, LULAC’s National
Convention and Exposition will help our members progress these goals. We are
honored to welcome our participants, speakers, and members as we embark on a week
of progress and growth, set the Latino agenda for the year, and elect the
organization’s next leader,” said LULAC National President Domingo Garcia.

Plenary sessions at this year’s convention include:

* Beyond the Border: Urban Responses to Influx of Migrants [ [link removed] ]
An engaging dialogue on the influx of migrants to non-border cities,
examining the perspective of mayors dealing with this crisis and exploring
potential solutions.

* Navigating AI's Evolution and Its Impact on Latino Communities [ [link removed] ]
A stimulating session to discuss how AI breakthroughs impact Latinos’
personal data security, online safety, job prospects, fair voting, and our
economy.

* Building Opportunities: Latinos and the Future of Infrastructure [ [link removed] ]
Acknowledging the substantial contributions of Latinos as creators and
beneficiaries of infrastructure is vital. This fireside chat will explore
recent advancements in our nation’s infrastructure, addressing sustainable
solutions to strengthen the economy for the future, with a dedicated focus on
the pivotal role of Latinos in shaping the new economy.

* Embracing the Uncomfortable: An Honest Conversation on Climate Change [ [link removed] ]
Recent natural disasters have highlighted the stark reality of climate
change, significantly impacting Latino communities across the U.S. This
session will address the urgency of mitigation efforts, emphasizing how
prolonged inaction disproportionately impacts Latinos and what we can do to
confront these challenges.

* Latinos and the Future of Voting and Civil Rights [ [link removed] ]
In 2024, democracy is under significant threat, with voting rights hanging in
the balance. Given the substantial influence Latinos hold in shaping election
outcomes, it's vital to re-examine the state of voting rights in 2024.

During the week, LULAC will also host several additional programming tracks for
its members, as well as members of the Las Vegas community, including:

* LULAC Academy [ [link removed] ] : Hosting 500
students aged 17 to 23, the Academy will offer a series of workshops
alongside the convention's plenary sessions. Led by industry experts, these
workshops will provide valuable insights and experiences that underscore the
significance of Latinos and Latino identity in addressing persistent
challenges and fostering innovative solutions.

* Women’s Conference [ [link removed] ] : The one-day
conference will focus on the political and social challenges that affect
women, highlight Latinas’ accomplishments in public service and feature
personal stories of women who have overcome adversity.

* Federal Training Institute (FTI) [ [link removed] ] :
The FTI will offer workshops and plenary sessions alongside the Convention to
assist attendees in enhancing their leadership skills and developing the
qualifications required for entry to senior government roles.

* Career Fair and Health Expo [ [link removed] ] :
The convention’s Career Fair and Health Expo will showcase products and
services tailored to the Latino community and provide employment
opportunities and health resources for attendees. The Career Fair and Health
Expo will be open to the public from June 26-28.
