No fishing permit needed on Free Fishing and Park Entry Day

Want to introduce your friends and family to fishing for free? Saturday, May 18 is Free Fishing and Park Entry Day, the one day each year when you don't need a fishing permit to go fish. You also won't need a park entry permit to visit a Nebraska state park, so find one to go fishing at near you.

Would you like to learn how to fish ? or get back into the sport after years away? Community Fishing events are sponsored by Nebraska Game and Parks and include free instruction and loaner equipment. A series of events will be held across the state starting in May; check it out!

Looking for a great place to fish this spring? Check out Calamus Reservoir. According to fisheries biologist Daryl Bauer, the reservoir is full of water, the walleye spawn is over and fish are feeding. "White bass fishing is hot, and there are always some big channel cats to catch," Bauer said. Learn more online.
