Dear John,
Throughout April, World Autism Month, we’re sharing stories across the spectrum and throughout the life span. These stories inspire us in our work to create a kinder, more inclusive world and we hope they’ll inspire you, too.
Today, we’re introducing you to University of Albany Women’s Basketball Coach Colleen Mullen, mom of twin three-year-old boys on the spectrum, and Taniya H., a student athlete with autism. From Taniya’s perspective on being a college athlete on the spectrum, to Coach Mullen’s pursuit of early diagnosis and interventions for her twin boys, these profiles show the diversity of experiences within the autism spectrum.
We invite you to join the Mullen family, Taniya and all of us at Autism Speaks as we work together to create a kinder world, simply by taking the pledge at autismspeaks.org/kindness. There, you can also meet other members of the autism community and find other ways to support our mission to promote solutions for the needs of people with autism and their families.
With kindness & gratitude, Lisa Goring Strategic Initiatives & Innovation Officer Autism Speaks
P.S. We know that this can be an especially challenging time for people with autism and those who love and support them. For resources, go to www.autismspeaks.org/coronavirus or contact the Autism Response Team at 888-AUTISM2 or [email protected]. We are here to help.
