People for the American Way

Dear PFAW Member--

Last night, the Supreme Court overruled Governor Evers' executive order to push back Wisconsin's primary date and extend the deadline for absentee ballots to be received. The Court ruled that all ballots must be received or post-marked by 8:00 P.M. today. The majority opinion, written by Brett Kavanaugh, demonstrates an utter lack of appreciation for the reality that voters will have to choose between exercising their rights to make their opinion known and their safety in a pandemic. This is completely unacceptable.

Help ensure that every outstanding absentee ballot is returned with an 8:00 P.M. postmark by signing up for a phone banking shift!>>

You'll have the opportunity to attend a quick 15 minute phonebanking training at 12:45 P.M. ET/11:45 A.M. CT/10:45 A.M. PT , 3:45 P.M. ET/2:45 P.M. CT/1:45 P.M. PT, and 5:45 P.M. ET/4:45 P.M. CT/3:45 P.M. PT and then get through to voters immediately.

At this point, the most impactful thing progressives can do is focus on hundreds of thousands of outstanding absentee ballots already received by voters that need to be cast today. Without being able to do a traditional door knocking program, we're asking for your help to make calls to let Wisconsinites know they need to postmark or turn in their ballots TODAY in order for their vote to count.

Please sign up for a phonebanking session with our partners at Organizing Together 2020 today to help us get those hundreds of thousands of ballots counted!

In the wake of this decision that will disenfranchise thousands of Wisconsin voters, we all need to take action to ensure that all possible votes are counted-- including the hundreds of thousands of voters who have received ballots in the mail that have yet to be returned to the Wisconsin Election Commission.

Thank you for doing your part to fight to get as many ballots returned as possible. Please be safe!

Radical Right extremists are trying to turn back the clock on a century of advances in civil rights, women’s rights, workers’ rights, the social safety net and more… With Donald Trump in the White House, they’re waging an all-out assault on the fundamental pillars of our country – democracy, checks and balances, a fair and independent judicial branch, and core values like fairness, equality, and justice for all.

PFAW is fighting back every day with:

✔ Grassroots organizing
✔ Lobbying and advocacy
✔ Research and education
✔ Voter mobilization
✔ And more…

But we can’t do this vital work without the robust grassroots financial support of our members and activists.

Please help fund the fight for progress and stand against right-wing extremism with an urgently needed donation to PFAW today>>
