John, it’s been an exciting few months here at Bera HQ. Ami has been hard at work for Sacramento County in Congress. Read on to see what Ami’s been up to.
# [#]→ In Sacramento County, Ami had a roundtable discussion with HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra and San Juan Unified School District leadership on the importance of investing in the health care workforce. This visit included a tour of the exceptional career technical education medical pathway and facility program at Rio Americano High School. As a doctor, Ami is a strong advocate for the expansion of the United States health care workforce.
→ Ami is fighting back against Republican attempts to undermine the Affordable Care Act. This landmark law has expanded affordable health care access for so many people in Sacramento County and around the country. As a doctor, Ami knows the importance of accessible, affordable health care and will defend the ACA.
→ The Inflation Reduction Act, the landmark climate and public health law Ami supported, has kicked into gear as the Biden Administration announced the first 10 drugs selected for Medicare price negotiation. The Inflation Reduction Act empowered Medicare to directly negotiate lower prescription drug prices to make healthcare affordable for seniors.
→ Ami voted for bipartisan bills that were passed to provide funding and humanitarian relief for Ukraine. The people of Ukraine are still fighting bravely against the unlawful invasion launched by Vladmir Putin. These bills provide vital resources necessary to help Ukrainians in their battle to defend their country.
→ This month, Ami introduced a bipartisan resolution to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act following his trip to Taiwan in January as co-chair of the Congressional Taiwan Caucus. He engaged with various leaders and officials following the success of Taiwan's democratic elections. His visit and the resolution both aimed to continue the development of a decades-long economic and defense relationship between the two countries.
→ As a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Ami traveled to Seoul and met with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul following the Third Summit for Democracy in Seoul. Through his work as a member of Congress, Ami is dedicated to developing further ties economically, in areas of trade, and culturally, in addition to security and technology, between the United States and South Korea.

Ami still has a lot more exciting things coming up and he couldn’t do any of this work without you, John.
